Darlene Charneco nación en 1971, en la ciudad de Nueva York. De padres de Mayagüez y Moca, Puerto Rico, sus obras exploran y navegan por los espacios híbridos en los que vivimos, presentándolos a menudo como parte de un organismo en crecimiento. Charneco obtuvo su BFA Magna Cum Laude del Southampton College de la Universidad de Long Island y asistió a SUNY Stony Brook para estudios de MFA. Ha expuesto y ofrecido conferencias en numerosos museos y galerías, incluidos los Museos Parrish, Katonah, Islip y Hunterdon, y fue galardonada con la Beca de la Fundación Pollack-Krasner en 2017. Actualmente vive en el East End de Long Island, trabajando en su estudio en Orient, Nueva York.

Las obras de técnica mixta de Darlene Charneco se fundamentan en una profunda reflexión sobre la simbiosis, la comunicación entre especies y las posibilidades transformadoras de la *Symmathesy* (aprendizaje mutuo en contextos relacionales complejos).

Inspiradas en los procesos naturales de coevolución y en la resonancia perdurable de la artesanía ancestral, sus piezas evocan la paciente precisión del encaje, los procesos biológicos y planetarios, y la complejidad digital de mapas de información en constante cambio.

Al clavar cada pieza en sus composiciones escultóricas, las concibe simultáneamente como una onda sonora y como un lenguaje topográfico de acumulación. Este proceso y práctica de enviar «Cartas al Universo» comenzó en 1999, impulsado por preguntas sinceras y esperanzas para la humanidad; la artista comparte sus visiones oníricas como interpretaciones de señales recibidas a través del espacio-tiempo. Mediante formas simbólicas —que ella denomina «Bibliotecas de Aprendizaje» y «Palacios de la Memoria»—, Charneco ofrece atisbos de «bases de datos visuales» inmersivas y en evolución, las cuales nos permiten explorar, aprender y nutrir colectivamente miles de formas matizadas de apoyarnos mutuamente y de cuidar nuestro planeta.

Como parte de un compromiso y una visión continuos que sustentan su obra, la artista destina un porcentaje de la venta de cada pieza a nutrir un «jardín» de causas globales y organizaciones sin fines de lucro que trabajan a diario para hacer realidad un mundo más benevolente y compasivo.
