BEATRIZ MORALES

Unbound

Praxis is pleased to present Unbound, a solo exhibition by the Mexican artist Beatriz Morales curated by Esenija Bannan. The show will be open from Thursday, May 9 to Saturday, July 6, 2024.

The opening reception will be on Thursday, May 9, from 6 to 8 pm.

When focusing on Beatriz Morales‘ colorful paintings and textile art installations made from agave fibers, one returns -in a way- to the origins of her art: Her works are worlds of color influenced by her home country of Mexico, in which the viewer is literally pulled in and enveloped by softness and color. In her agave installations, Morales breaks with artistic conventions and attempts to explore new possibilities as an ambivalent medium between sculpture, architecture and textile art. Never conforming to one style, the exhibition Unbound gives us a glimpse of the range of works that the artist created for her first solo exhibition in New York: From abstract portraits to her stitched paintings surrounded by voluminous and soft installations made of agave fibres, using intense colors and breaking down naturalistic forms.
