Description
We are pleased to debut at CAN ART FAIR, exhibiting in FOCO LATAM, the section curated by Christian Viveros-Fauné. The participating galleries will present works by Latin American artists under a shared conceptual framework: New Surrealism. As Viveros-Fauné notes, “We want to talk about surrealism as those moments when the mask of normality falls away, revealing a somewhat stranger and less predictable nature.”
Our presentation brings together four artists—Josefina Concha E., Candelaria Fernández Coya, Elisa Lutteral, and Diego Miccige—whose practices collectively explore states of transformation, permeability, and disruption. Across textiles, drawing, knitting, and embroidered paper, their works unfold as living surfaces and sensitive structures that oscillate between order and organic overflow. Fragmented images, organism-like drawings, tactile extensions of the body, and geometric grids interrupted by fluid forces converge in a shared inquiry into instability and metamorphosis. Together, they propose a “softened” surrealism—one that emerges not through spectacle, but through subtle shifts in perception, where the familiar becomes strange and material becomes a site of memory, intuition, and relational awareness.
