My initial training as a lawyer perhaps embodied my desire for security and foresight: a system in which every cause has its predetermined consequence, a predictable order that mitigates the uncertainty inherent to existence.
Finding a definitive conclusion to my search would be nothing more than a chimera, and in that understanding, I propose to investigate a dichotomy: control the chaos and let it be. I approach this search from the use and re-interpretation of Japanese philosophical-aesthetic resources, placed in dialogue with a personal perspective built from a Western thought paradigm.
Water, a transversal element in all my work, is represented in the form of untimely waves and is also impregnated in the paper to corrode and soften the lines, while the vegetation and the mountains appropriate the space and ignore the logical order imposed by the science and conventions. There is no gravity, proportion or perspective: I deploy my own language, rational limits disappear.
Even having the possibility of control within my reach in the territory of paper, the immensity of its emptiness invites me to compose my landscapes in an improvised and instinctive way. I find beauty in confusion, in the border that divides (in)security, (dis)order, and (im)precision. The contradiction transcends my person to enter my work, where the limit between drawing and biography is diluted: conscious and meticulous mastery merges with surrender to chaos and uncertainty.
