A Question of Perspective

With a sense of sweet sorrow and sometimes a note of sarcasm, my work references my own experience of the human condition and the context that surrounds me. The discourse is constructed through a personal abstraction and reinterpretation of reality. A coke top on a sidewalk, a line in a novel, a picture, the plant sitting on my coffee table: I draw and paint these visual anecdotes without a preconceived narrative. I dislocate and overlap elements, color and textures in an attempt to interrupt any linear conclusions. I play with the definition of edges and borders that limit (or not) every piece and the sense of instability it produces. As well, I appeal to the multiplicity of perspectives and rhythms that can coexist in one same idea. Some of these decisions are not deliberate but many are a product of experimentation and personal experiences with the subject and the stories that relate me to it.
