INFORMACIÓN DEL ARTISTA

 

Alejandro Anreus comenta que Luis Mallo, en los años 90, estaba trabajando en una serie inspirada en el libro de Herbert Marcuse “Eros y Civilización”. Esas fotografías yuxtapusieron fragmentos de cuerpos humanos con fragmentos de maquinarias y tecnología,  creando de esta manera  meditación visual entre el sitio del deseo y el placer (el cuerpo), y el significado de producción (la maquinaria). Expresa que desde entonces lo ve como un fotógrafo esencialmente filosófico. Su rigor formal está sostenido por ideas sustanciales. En el 2006 empezó la serie “Secretos Abiertos”, enfocándose en los espacios de almacenaje de los museos. Estas imágenes que poseían casi una formalidad neo-clásica, plasmaban espacios que contenían y preservaban obras de arte y objetos de valor. Mallo escogió visualizar estos espacios como misteriosos. (El público nunca tiene acceso a ellos, sólo unos cuantos del personal del Museo), espacios cargados con cualidades protegidas, donde la tradición y la memoria, a través de objetos, son preservados.
